How to Take Care of Dry Skin in Winter?

how to take care of dry skin in winter

I’ve had a lot of people ask me “besides skin treatments and face packs, what is good for dry face?” and this is my reply always:

  • Drink enough water. If your body is dehydrated, it will not only cause health problems in the long run but also show up on your skin.
  • You are what you eat! Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, lower intake of caffeine, alcohol, and stop smoking!
  • Moisturize often. I prefer using coconut oil plus glycerin to keep my hands and face moisturized during winters. Paraffin works great for feet and hands too, I avoid using it on face because I have combination skin and paraffin is a bit too much for me.
  • Follow a good bed time routine; Cleanse, exfoliate gently(once or twice  a week) and apply a good night serum or moisturizer.
  • Use good quality lip balms, you can  make Diy lip oil at home with natural ingredients.

  • Avoid creams and lotions with fragrances. Yes, the fragrance in that yummy smelling lotion is doing more harm than good.
  • As tempting as it sounds but avoid taking long hot showers. This tends to dry out your skin.
  • Use a good quality, mild soap, and shampoo.
  • Last but not least, use a suitable homemade face mask for dry skin in winter. “Which face mask is best for dry skin? You ask” Try out a few from the list above to find the most suitable one for your skin type.
